My Philosophy

Philosophy is the principles we pursue and follow in our life.

Each individual will have principles of his own to follow and live accordingly. My principle is to serve the needy and change the societal awareness about importance of education in rural areas, satisfying basic needs and lot more.

We must share resources with every one . We should not spend the resources lavishly. Animals should not be ill-treated and instead took care of . Life is filled with happiness and sorrows . Leave the bad , take the good. My philosophy in life is to help those who are in need. Whenever I come across children belonging to slums I feel I should help those children who are let down by the society. We must reach the down trodden people till the extent we can. I wish to serve people below poverty till I can reach. We must empower the people toiling to live their life.

Education of poor children and awareness of education to people will lead India to greater heights. Child labor should be completely abolished. My philosophy is to make my locality a powerful one.

If each individual decides to serve his locality in needs and deeds India can reach.

Karnataka Tour

We around 85 students with our H.O.D.Mr.JeyaChandran went on an educational tour to Coorg & Mysore. We stayed in S.K. Continental at Mysore and Mahalashmi Residency in Coorg. It was a grt fun there. Mr. Balaji a travel agent was the tour manager. The scenery in Coorg was implicit. The climate was also very pleasant with cool breeze from all side. The cloudy atmosphere and the rains splashed with happiness. The water droplets on the leaves in the early mornings looked amazing and the fog which covered the trees with a white layer looked beautiful.

We visited Tibetar Golden Temple where we found a lot of Buddhist monks. The temple was a massive one. We had a chat with the monks there. They have planted rose and grasses. While they shook in the air it seemed to me as if they were welcoming and wishing us all the best. I learnt abt their beliefs and lot more. The place was surrounded by high walls.

We reached the hotel for stay in the late afternoon. And in the night they had organized for a camp fire where Rev. Fr. Joseph Antonysamy gave a brief note on St. Ignecius of Loyola and the founder of Society of Jesus (SJ). Thereafter we danced with joy and returned back to the destination for rest.

The nxt day, we went to Abi falls which was surrounded by hills. The falls was located miles far away. The place was breezy. Though I was not able to go near the falls I njoyed view of the scenery & it looked awesome. From there we went to Chamundi hills. The hills from above looked fantastic. The clouds looked near as if its coming down. Thala Cauvary is a boat resort in Coorg. The fresh water is flowing with joyfulness. .

The following day, our crew went to Dobera Forest ..There we saw deer . The forest was dense. The forest was sloppy and it seemed to me that we are going on a trekking . On the day, we visited tomb of Hyder Ali & Tippu Sultan in Mysore . In the evening we were engaged in light & music show @ Brindavan Gardens. The colorful fountains looked awesome while the fountain danced along with the tune .

This tour gave us a good exposure and a nice experience. I learnt many things. Every one has to visit Mysore and Coorg at least once in their life time.

Corruption - A Dangerous Weapon

Introduction

Corruption exists in all levels. People become slaves to this act. This is prevalent even in educational institutions in the name of donations. India has come to a stage where without bribe works to be carried out remains pending. This prevails in every nook and corner of our country. Corruption is nothing but benefit for a particular individual.

Meaning of Corruption :

Corruption is defined by the World Bank and Transparency International (TI) as “the misuse of public office for private gain. This distorts the performance of the government.

Here is a short story about Corruption:

Once upon a time there lived a father with two children in a town. He was working with a private concern. They were living a decent life for years. One day the father was arrested by the police in suspicion of receiving bribe of Rs. 100. He was put behind bars. The father was very anxious about his children’s future . Though they were in their relative’s home they were suffering a lot. They were relegated in their relatives home

The Judge’s Decision :

When the two children went and requested for their father’s release both of them were ill-treated. Though he was good outside he was a corrupted person. He asked a sum of R. 1000 in order to release their father.

How To Reduce Corruption:

Citizens must be educated in anti- corruption and the central government should take steps to eradicate corruption. The new sprouting young citizen can abolish corruption in the following ways :

• We can conduct anti – corruption programs to educate the illiterates in rural areas.

• 5 Pillars is doing fabulous job of promoting 0 currency notes in order to make the poor realize that       giving  bribe to government officials will restrict the improvement of the country .

• There has to be accountability for all the money spent. So that we can have corruption- free India.

Conclusion:

The Government Of India must take necessary action in order to eradicate corruption in our country. If we are careless we gona destroy the growth of India. Let us join hands & work to abolish thorns (corruption) in the society. It is the responsibility of the youth to make India a corruption free society.

REMAKING THE WORLD

Introduction :

Science and religion are very old concepts understood by man. Let us now see how do science and religion look at the world. We must rethink whether science is superior or religion .

                                                 GRAVITY

Science

Science plays a crucial role in this modern world . Due to new inventions people are keen to know about new technologies. As we know Sir Isac Newton was a the inventor of gravity before him no one must have known why an object falls down . Science creates a new thought amongst us . From the beginning till now, science helps us in every aspect of life. Though it is bane to the society at the same time it is also a boon . Science destroys the world by inventing atom bomb , missiles and powerful guns like AK47 etc . Science is helpful for launching Chandrayan , Satellite Launch Vehicle and lot more . According to an American writer Joan Didion we tell stories to ourselves in order to live . Of all our stories , it is the scientific ones that most define us . Science is mode of knowledge which creates a societal awareness. Although we perceive science as a ultimate truth , it is ultimately just a story, told in instalments . It is used in all walks of life. Hence it is a source of light for us .

                                                                       TECHNOLOGY

Religion

After science had intervened religion is losing its importance in the society . Though we say story of creation even God has used science to create Adam and Eve . Hence forth science and religion are very old concepts . In India there are three important religions such as Christianity , Islam , Hinduism . All religions insists on only one right that is equality. Religion creates unity amidst people . As science , religion was also created . Hinduism is the oldest religion in India . Hindus believe in idol worship and Christians and Muslims believe in only one God . It shapes our life style . It creates a feeling of guilt when we believe that God is present everywhere . It helps us to create good habits and cultivates an interest towards doing good to others . There are atheists who do not believe in God . Hence I would like to conclude by saying, both science and religion are important for us to live .

                                                             JESUS CHRIST

                                                                    LORD GANESH

                                                                           ALLAH

RETHINK !!!!!!!!!

Grow science to improve the standard of the country & to destroy it.

Grow religion to develop unity  amongst people & caste should not be a hindrance

Time Parable

Introduction:

Time is a concept which was introduced prior God created living things in this world . In the ancient times people used to say time according to the direction of the sun. After some years a manual clock was introduced. But now there are electronic clocks which saves time of man .

Time Management:

God has provided us with 24 hours a day in which we have to perform several activities. In this modern society we run out of time because we have to perform various activities . If we prepare time table it helps us to identify our progress in our work. We have to plan our schedule in such a way  that we are able to complete our duty. The basic principle to manage time is “we have to know our responsibility and work to achieve the goal". Time is one factor which motivates us to work .It drives us to success.

Quotes About Time Management

Time and space are fragments of the infinite for the use of finite creatures. - Henri Frederic Amiel

You will never "find" time for anything. If you want time, you must make it. - Charles Bruxton

Time is a file that wears and makes no noise. - English Proverb

The swiftness of time is infinite, as is still more evident when we look back on the past. - Seneca

A Write-Up on Aung San Sui Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.

Myanmar’s celebrated democracy campaigner, Aung San Sui Kyi, is the only Nobel peace prize laureate to languish in detention for over 14 years.

Prologue

Burma officially the Union of Myanmar, is the largest country by geographical area in mainland Southeast Asia or Indochina. India is on the northwest of Myanmar with the Andaman Sea defining Myanmar’s southern periphery.

Aung San Sui Kyi was born on June 19, 1945 at Rangoon, while Burma was under British rule. Her father General Aung San was responsible for the creation of Burma Independence Army and her mother Ma Khin Kyi was the Ambassador of Burma in India. Her father was killed on July 19, 1947 only a few months before Independence of Burma on January 4, 1948. Burma functioned as a democratic republic from 1948 to 1962. As a child Sui Kyi studied in India from 1960 and went on to Oxford for her further studies. After her marriage with Dr.Michael Aris, she helped Aris in Himalayan studies and she also worked in UN as a specialist in South Asian relations.

Unfortunate End of Democracy

In 1962, there was a military coup in which General Ne Win became the military commander and military regime was set in place. Sui Kyi continued to live in London till her mother fell ill in Rangoon in 1988. The military regime also continued till 1988 and there was a proposal to hold elections in 1988 after General Ne Win resigned. By then, Kyi was 43 years old. Kyi used this opportunity to bring the people of Burma together to ensure freedom from military regime. She formed a party named ‘National League for Democracy’ (NLD). She held a public rally in favour of NLD, which was attended by about 5 lac people. The military leaders felt threatened and at the first opportunity put her under arrest.

Despite being in arrest, Dr.Aung San Sui Kyi, won 82% of the popular vote in 1990, but she has never been allowed to hold office. Instead, since the election, she has been under intermittent arrest, house arrest, surveillance, and is prohibited from taking part in political activities. Because she chose not to abandon her countrymen and women, exile was not an option. The Government on several occasions advised her to go to any other country, so that, she may live free. But she refused to leave her people.

Nobel Laureate

In 1991, she won the Nobel Peace Prize "for her non-violent struggle for democracy and human rights.". She believed in the ‘Policy of non-violence and civil disobedience’ to get freedom for her countrymen. .

Nobel prize was given to her for her efforts to get freedom for her country from her own fellow citizens who are military rulers. She continues her fight against oppression. She always believed that "It is not power that corrupts but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it." Fearlessness is the best response to governmental violence. A part of the money she received as award in Nobel Peace Prize helps fund London-based charity Prospect Burma, who provide higher education grants to Burmese students.

At the Nobel Prize awards ceremony for Aung San Sui Kyi in December 1991, she was still being held in detention by the military dictatorship in Myanmar and could only be represented by her two sons, her husband and her picture facing the audience.

Current Status.

Living under a brutally repressive regime, the people of Burma, for years, have been crying out for democracy. Yet, other than lip service found on the U.S. State Department's web site and some nearly meaningless economic pressure, the U.S. Administration has largely ignored Burma. Why? Perhaps, because, unlike Iraq, Burma is not a major exporter of oil.

She could have led a life of academic research and comfort in Oxford, England, but left her family and returned to Burma to lead a pro-democracy movement, courageously enduring the barbaric military rule of her native land. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Aung San Sui Kyi is a non-violent liberator in a nation run by a junta that kills dissenters at will. She seeks no materialistic rewards, just freedom for her people. Hence she is languishing in detention.

She is still under detention, separated from her family, despite efforts of many governments and the United Nations to secure her liberation. A group of Nobel peace laureates only got as far as Thailand in an attempt to bring their petition to the military dictators who hold her. In 1994, however, a U.S. congressman was permitted to see her, and, as a result of mediation by a Buddhist monk, she had a conference with members of the government.

Conclusion

Sui Kyi unites deep commitment and tenacity with a vision in which the end and the means form a single unit. The most important elements of her policy are: democracy, respect for human rights, reconciliation between groups, non-violence, and personal and collective discipline.

As per Hindu e-Newspaper dated 13-12-2009, Myanmar’s military Government is considering her ‘appeal for release’. Aung San Sui Kyi has something to teach all of us about the importance of fighting for democracy and the sacrifices we all must take to insure its survival.

As for Dr. Aung San Suu Kyi, she is fighting to free her country and not languishing.

Caste System In India

Introduction:

Caste is divided on the basis of occupation of people. This word prevails from the time emperors’ rule. Let us now see how castes were divided and how the lower section citizens were treated in India.

During The Time of Kshatriyas (Kings):

The Kshatriyas were the upper class of the society. The subjects had to obey the rules and regulations of the emperor. The nobles and ministers in the court were given equal power by the king. The religious priests were also given equal status in the society. The common folks were ill – treated and were not given any opportunity in social life.

Present Status Of Caste in India:

Caste plays a vital role in India even now. Dalits the lower section of the society are not provided with basic rights . Dalits are being treated in inhuman way. Politicians are the main culprits for this racial discrimination. Census is being taken on basis of caste system. Nitish Kumar, chief minister of Bihar supports this act. Though these lower section people were denied of many rights and opportunities earlier now things are changing. Government encourages low caste people to become educated by providing lot of opportunities.

Why Discrimination Among People:

People were discriminated on caste based for their own benefits. The upper castes citizens are provided with maximum benefits in all fields . The politicians discriminated the people so that they can bring a growth in their community and earn fame and name .

Stop Casteism!!

We must not discriminate people as rich & down trodden . All must be treated equally on the basis of their skill and knowledge. The government must take initiatives to stop discrimination.

Global Warming

Introduction :

• Global warming is an increase in the average temperature of the earth's atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. If we ignore the facts now the results could be catastrophic.

• Many things have happened as a result. Since the beginning of the 20th century the average surface temperature has increased by 1.1 degrees.

• Just in the past 40 years it has risen by a half of a degree. This doesn't sound like much right away but any change in temperature causes melting to the polar ice caps. If they continue to melt the sea level could start to rise dramatically. As of now the global sea level is raising 3 times faster in the last hundred years when compared to the last 3000 years.

• Mountain glaciers have been receding. The arctic ice pack has lost about 40% of it's thickness in the last 40 years. Even plants and animals are showing a wide range of effects in recent studies.

Effects :

• Global warming is affecting everyone. You can find changes in your own backyard. The extremely noticeable changes are found when studying habitats of plants and animals. Other habitats are having a change in the timing of their life cycles.

• In the Polar Regions a big problem is arising. Once frozen solid land is now turning into swamp. This will eventua1ly lead to a time when the Arctic Ocean will be ice-free in the summer months.

• Most animals' native to this area like "polar bears, ice-dwelling seals and some sea birds" will be pushed "to the brink of extinction. The earth's atmosphere has mix of nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. This mixture is a delicate balance that makes the temperature on earth proper for plant and animal life.

• The problem that no one seems to realize is that by burning fossil fuels we are putting carbon into the air. Carbon absorbs heat. So when it goes into the atmosphere we get more heat. Carbon is also released very rapidly during deforestation from the burning of trees. Instead of the plants filtering our air of carbon dioxide they release carbon into the air forming carbon dioxide. It's a double negative which is greatly affecting our temperature.

• The releasing of aerosols has almost the same effect as carbon dioxide on the atmosphere. They both end up causing the same problem. Incoming light from the sun goes through the atmosphere and the greenhouse gasses and gets absorbed by these greenhouse gasses. But now that we are adding to the amount off gas we are getting more heat absorption.

Result :

• These gasses are adding up every day. In 1987 the "carbon dioxide reached 340 parts per million" and "in 1999 360ppm".

• It is estimated that "in 2050 the carbon dioxide count will be 600ppm". This is at the point in which the global temperature would be "higher than it has ever been and will cause serious problems" unlike the warning sign we are experiencing currently.

• It is a fact that the average rise in temperature globally is 1.1 degrees. The startling fact is that parts of Alaska, Canada, and Northern Russia they have experienced a rise in temperature by 5 degree Fahrenheit. This is because they are in the Northern Hemisphere where there is less water.

• In the last 16 years "the front of the Columbia Glacier has retreated more than eight miles" And Montana's Glacier National Park will have no glaciers within a couple of decades. The Aletsch Glacier in Switzerland lost more than 300ft. of its thickness.

• In 1995 more than 500 people died in Chicago alone. This was because the heat waves at night time left "no relief from day time heat stress" "

• Some people think that the warming up of the planet would be a good thing. And yes, some things would flourish. They include pests, livestock, diseasesed mosquitoes, and parasites. Clearly you can see that global warming will definitely not help improve the world in the years to come.

Conclusion :

• To slow down global warming drastically we need to look at the main sources of carbon dioxide which are coal, petroleum, and natural gas. The problem is that this would basically shut down, "the coal and oil industries, oil-exporting nations, the automobile industry, and many manufacturers" .

• So because these powerful companies don't want to lose money they hire "shanky" scientists to deny that there is a global warming problem.

• Hybrid cars have been out on the market for a couple of years now. They use a small gasoline engine and high powered electric motor to drive the car. These vehicles get exceptional gas mileage and pollute considerably less than the conventional automobile. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are almost ready for production. The next step to have hydrogen refilling stations around the world.

My view on the issue of Global Warming :

• Until we find a solution for global warming we need to make widespread knowledge that this is not a joke. It will not go away if people believe that it doesn't exist. We are the cause of global warming so we must take action against it. If it is ignored than the effects could be horrifying.

Happiness in Unity - A Conference conducted by International Association For Religious Freedom.

Introduction:

International Association For Religious Freedom (IARF) conducted a three day conference in Tirunelveli. This conference was organized by Tirunelveli branch of IARF. We were about 9 students from Chennai who participated in this program. Bro.Albert Xavier SHJ received us at the Railway Station and he accompanied us to Idhaya Jothi (an ashram) in the outskirts of Tirunelveli. There were about 46 participants from various colleges of Tamilnadu.

We had an inaugural function in the morning on 5th March 2010 in Francis Xavier Engineering College, a group of SCAD institutions graced by all the leaders of IARF, Mister for Post and culture, Mr. Mohammed Khan and several Social Activists. After the inaugural session, he conducted a game, in order to segregate the participants mixed with other college students and this was really very enjoyable. Bro. Stephen sang a song highlighting Human Rights. I would like mention the first stanza of the Tamil song:

Iniya pon Indiavilae,
Naan Hinduvai kanden,
Muslimai kanden,
Christuvanai kanden,
Aana manushanadhan parkaliye,
Ada manushanadhan parkaliye.

An English translation to this would be ‘In this Sweet India I have seen Hindu, Muslim and Christian beings, but, not seen Human beings’.

Then International President Dr. Thomas Mathew shared his experience in IARF and he said the organization was started in the year 1900 with co- operation of many people. This organization promotes Human Rights. He shared his plans for the 33rd World Conference which is to be held in Kochi in September, 2010. His Holiness  Dalai lama, will be the Chief Guest for the conference. He shared Dalai Lama’s simplicity in these words, “When International President offered Dalai Lama to stay in a 5 star hotel, and he replied that no one in this world is big or small, everyone is equal”. In the evening Mr. Wilfred , Principal of St. Jude College showcased a PowerPoint Presentation on the achievements of great people such as Mother Teresa , Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam , Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Ambani . In the night we saw some documentaries on Human Rights, such as Rita’s choice, Sacred Groove etc.

The next morning that is on 6th Mar.’10 we had inter-faith religious prayer service. After that we visited religious worship centers in and around Tirunelveli. We had lot of fun while traveling. We went to Siva Temple in Papanasam. From there we went to an ashram where a person enlightened us with Hindu Spirituality. He said that Hinduism came into existence after the origin of River Sindhi.

Then, we went to Melapalayam mosque, since it was time for the religious people to pray. It was a rare opportunity to see different religious worships. After that, we went to St. Mary’s school where Bro. Sengon a provincial superior, spoke on Causes of Social Evils like dowry system. We had group discussion (GD) on this topic. He said caste is decided depending on their work. When GD was going on, the feeling of each one of us on dowry system in India was that the female members of the family are the main cause of this menace. He gave a brief talk on poverty. He said a rich man consumes more than 2400 calories per day, where as people below poverty-line consume less than 2100 calories per day. Poverty prevails due to unemployment, he concluded.

From there we went to St Francis of Assisi Church, there Bro. Joe Anthony talked about interests of young adults in the present scenario. He said Buddha’s tree of enlightenment is not only an intellectual place for any one, but primarily it is our will to achieve in life that matters. It can be under any tree for a person to become enlightened. From there we went to a community hall to have interaction with IARF leaders in Tirunelveli. Then, we went to the ashram where we had group discussion on the 30 articles of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). They showed video related to each article for easy understanding. The day’s sessions came to a close.

On the 3rd day, in the morning we had meditation. It gave me peace of mind. Mr. Raja Ram, principal of Govt. Arts College addressed the gathering saying caste system prevails in all the nook & corner of India. Caste system is predominantly found in affluent society. It is found in Education system of India. Caste of a person is decided by the occupation of the individual. They divided the group into cities and towns, so that we as the youth of the society can promote IARF and educate our near ones on Human Rights.

We had cultural programs performed by various colleges of which my college, Loyola College was applauded for our great efforts and performance. We, a group of seven boys took the issue of LTTE and in the climax of the drama, we brought out that everyone should take an oath:

We are one and we should fight for our rights.

The International President Dr. Thomas Mathew was pleased with our performance. At the end of the ceremony we were awarded certificates and group photo was taken.

Conclusion:
The State Level Conference was a great opportunity to interact with Eminent Personalities of IARF. We shall fight against social evils in society and create awareness about the importance of Human Rights in our locality. We shall awaken the people by saying all are equal in front of God and Law. Let us work together for promoting the necessity of Human Rights. Youngsters are just sprouting out of their shell to fight against evils. As Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has pointed out that by 2020 India will be a Super Power. If we join hands and fight for our rights, we as Citizens of India can surely achieve the theme of the conference:                                     Happiness in Unity.

I would like to conclude by saying Unity comes if we don’t discriminate people with caste, religion and occupation. We must cultivate the feeling of oneness amongst people.

We Must Fight For Our Rights Till We Achieve Our Goals!!!!!!!!!

Dyslexia - Learning the Dyslexia

The World Federation of Neurology defines ‘Dyslexia’ as a disorder manifested by difficulties in learning to read, despite conversational instruction, adequate intelligence and socio – cultural opportunities. The literal meaning of Dyslexia – Difficulty with language (dys – difficulty & lexia – language).

Dyslexia is also known as specific learning difficulty. Such children exhibit a disorder in one or more of the basic processes involved in the understanding or in the use of spoken or written language . This may be manifested in disorders of listening , thinking , reading , talking , spelling , writing or arithmetic.

TYPES OF DYSLEXIA:

There are two types of Dyslexia:
 Developmental Dyslexia
 Acquired Dyslexia

(i) Developmental Dyslexia :
This is an inherited neurological defect . There are many evidences to show that Dyslexia is largely inherited .

(ii) Acquired Dyslexia :
A person who was not born with Dyslexia but may have lost the ability in the use of language due to environmental factors such as trauma during birth, some accident, epilepsy etc.

No two people with Dyslexia are same. The problem may differ from person to person. Dyslexia may be mild, moderate or extreme.

CAUSES:
The term Dyslexia has become a common problem amongst students. Researchers feel that dyslexia has a neurobiological & genetic basis.

TYPICAL ACADEMIC PROBLEMS OF LEARNING DISABILITY (LD)

Reading difficulty
• Difficulty in identifying letters and numbers . For example , a dyslexic child gets confused with p and q and 9 too.
• Confusion with words saw and saw . Though they are aware of the words they tend to read it reversal.
• Slow in reading.
• Reading without expression & pause.
• Unable to pronounce a particular word in the passage and these children omit or add words.
• Reading word by word, almost all words.

Writing Problems :

• Writes slowly..
• Holds pencil tightly . Gets tired of writing very quickly.
• Erases and overwrites often . This is reason why their hand writing is bad.
• Leaves words or even sentences while copying.
• Tends to write in small letters and they don’t give importance for punctuations while writing .
• Avoids writing whenever possible.

These children also have problem in calculations.

Visuals / Motor/ Perception Deficit :

• Letters collide with each other & leaves no space between words.
• Writes below the line.

Other Common Observations are :
• Reversal writing .
• Illegible writing.
• Formation of letters are very strange.
• Messy work.

Memory Deficit:
1. Memory loss.
2. Confusions with numbers .
3. Very poor vocabulary and forgets small words such as, in, was, at, the etc.,
4. Forgets name of objects.

Behavioral Problems :
1. Cannot sit quietly for a long time .
2. Short attention span
3. Disorganized.

Learning Disabilities in Adolescents :
These children with mild to severe learning disabilities begin to feel the stress of emotional abuse in unsympathetic school system. By this time they are branded as lazy, unmotivated, spoilt specimen etc. They are humiliated by parents, teachers and peer group.

Feeling of L.D Children :
I like to mention some feelings of L.D. Children. They feel that they are useless; they are incapable of doing anything. These children may be good at sports and other things. They have low self esteem. Though they may be good at sports and achieve in several other activity the parents and teachers nag about why he/ she is poor in academics.

IARF - My Experience in Conference on Religious Freedom

Introduction:

International Association for Religious Freedom, abbreviated as IARF, is an NGO that conducts programs on Human Rights, all over the world. This organization, established in 1900, is dedicated to the cause of creating awareness amongst the youth in our society on Religious Freedom and grooming them into responsible citizens.

My experience:

The IARF recently conducted two conferences, both of which I attended. These conferences were held on 11th to 13th Sep. 2009 and 20th to 21st Dec. 2009 at Santhome ,Chennai & Suttur Srikshetra, Mysore respectively. I experienced very thought provoking moments and received fruitful insights in these two conferences. The conference dwelt at length on the following areas of interest at Chennai and Mysore.

• Role of Youth on Human Rights and Duties.

• Inter-faith Dialogue – The Way to Reconcialiation.

The focus of these two conferences, though different, it culminates into serving one very purpose of nation building and creating responsible youth in India.

Chennai Conference :

The three-days program was held at The Dhyana Ashram, Santhome, Chennai . More than 150 youth from various parts of the world participated in this International Conference at Chennai. The participants were from various countries including South Africa, Somalia, Nepal, Maldives, Taiwan, Srilanka etc., and many states of India. Participants actively shared their concern on the socio- economic condition in their countries , some of them, explained on the hunger and acute poverty in this world and the ways to eradicate these woes of society. The need for food, clothing, shelter and other basic needs of human ife.

As part of this program, we visited a few religious places, such as, Santhome church, Kapalishwar temple. We also visited Vivekananda memorial and we had lot fun at Marina beach.

Cultural programs such as dance and skit were organized by the participants showcasing the problems faced by the Tamils in Sri Lanka. This program on the whole evoked the desire in all participants to serve the poor. This conference gave me a wider knowledge about the problems people face like lack of food, shelter and security. At the end of the conference, the insight that I took home was, ‘As youth of the country, I should work to eradicate divisions in society based on caste & community.’.

Mysore Conference :

The conference was held between 20th & 21st December 2009 . This conference was a member council meet . There were about 50 youth and 50 members of the organization . We stayed in the guest house of JSS institution . The conference was held in the conference hall of Jagad Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamasthana Math Suturu Srikshetra . The NGO aims at educating all children . All delegates spoke about Interfaith Dialogue --- The Way To Reconciliation . They all spoke about communal violence and remedies to stop them . During our free time we went for a boat ride and had a bath in the river. The students of Jagad Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamasthana near the guest house. Math Suturu Srikshetra (abbreviated as JSS institution ) performed culturals . It was great fun at Mysore.
