MY JOURNEY TO DELHI

JOURNEY TO DELHI

We went on a tour to Delhi. It was an exceptionally fantastic experience. We visited one of our relatives in Jalandhar. We had planned our tour with a well known travel agency called Panicker Travels. We traveled from Chennai to Delhi by air. Then we planned to take the flight to Amritsar to reach Jalandhar. This being in winter season, we had taken lot of woolen clothing with us.

At Jalandhar, it was extremely cold.

At Delhi, our guide took us to all important places like Red Fort, India Gate, Indira Gandhi Museum, Birla Temple, Lotus temple, Qutab Minar, Jawaharlal Nehru residence etc.,

India gate is a war memorial. Republic day parade is held here at India gate. We saw many balloon vendors and other hawkers selling pop corn, kites and toys for small children. My younger brother bought on plastic helicopter that would fly upon pulling a string. He pulled the string, and there came the helicopter hitting my head hard enough to cause a bleeding injury. I got angry and then cooled down.

Indira Gandhi Museum has many interesting aspects. This house has a library with a good collection of books read by Indira Gandhi. Her drawing room has a Sofa, Centre table and a Chandelier hangs from the roof. There are a number of old photographs depicting her career as a politician and her childhood days. These photographs make us understand her life more vividly. Her bed room also has a sofa and a study table with a study lamp. We also saw the pathway which she had gone by while she was shot dead by her own body guards. This path is covered with glass.

Lotus temple is a place for meditation dedicated to people of all communities. The temple resembles a lotus.

Red fort is made of red stones and is a huge structure. At Red fort , the President hoists the national flag on Republic day and Prime Minister hoists the flag here on Independence day.

From Delhi we went to Jaipur, Agra and Mathura and back to Delhi. This was a two day program. But as I got sick on the first day, I did not enjoy much. I don’t even remember what I saw at Jaipur.

Taj Mahal is constructed with pure white marble in memory of Mumtaj Mahal by Shajahan. River Yamuna flows behind the Taj. We took many photographs and my brother took photographs near the Yamuna. The Agra Fort is visible from Taj Mahal.

Shajahan built this Fort at Agra. At old age Shajahan viewed the magnificent Taj Mahal from the Fort. Still that location in the fort exists.

How have I overcome difficulty in studying?

Basically I love studying. But I was finding studies very difficult. I was always feeling pressured till my secondary schooling (i.e. class 10).

I disliked Math & Science. People say science is terror for many. I feel science though difficult, it is interesting. According to me commerce is very easy as compared to science. But, I think, Science has more opportunities. Commerce is a subject of theory. But science is subject of applications and lab work. As I find lab work very difficult, I have taken commerce as main subject. It is extremely easy compared to any other subject.

I feel that its my family who supports me fully. Now I am in XII Standard I desire to achieve maximum marks. I would put sheer hard work . I obey my mother in studies . She makes my studies easy by writing answers (detailed) in a note book . I feel comfortable in studying hand-written note book as compared to printed books. I will pray and put constant efforts with dedication. I wish to achieve 200 atleast in a subject . My mother guides me in studies . But I decide the subject to study. I feel happy to have her as my mother.

Thenmala, Kerala

We visited Thenmala on 1st May 2007 to explore nature's bounty on a holiday. This lovely location is situated along NH 208 that stretches between Thirumangalam(near Madurai) and Quilon. A small strip of the highway at Thenmala has been developed into an Eco park. Thenmala is 22KM from Shenkottah. A nice creation of park with ample opportunity for further expansion in area. Visitors may spend a day here and be rejuvinated. I would suggest a visit to this place during any time other than summer because scorching heat of Sun makes walking a bit difficult.
This boy with a deer was seen playing alone and hence caught him and the deer in my camera. The view of dam is so captivating that you would love to stand there for longer time.
