Election 2014 - A Serious Affair

Think & Act

Political parties in India both national level and state level parties take their share by involving in corruption, a black mark in Indian society. In name of election all parties join and collaborate and form alliances. Elections are held to elect the right representative to govern India to ensure prosperity. All great leaders of Indian Politics show their faces once in 5 years.

So that people are brain washed. They use media as a weapon to promote their party. Each party  accuses  the  other in election campaigns to get votes. Their motives are illegitimate. Why Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) come to power in Delhi ? The 49 days Chief Minister of Delhi wanted to pass the Lokpal Bill why did the leaders of the opposition didn’t allow this to happen? Voting is our right. We are in a democratic nation , we are entitled to vote.

Your Vote Counts !!! Bring Change to Political Systems in India

Youngsters have a larger role to play in this elections this year.

Pray to God and vote for a Corruption Free India.

With Our Vote we will Bring Change. Let India Grow and Prosper

Steps to : Curb Casteism

Why Caste In India ?

The evolution of   casteism is considered  to be a history of ancient times. The people were segregated into groups  to distinguish between the upper and lower caste. Class division goes on hierarchal basis – In the row Brahmins  bagged the first position in the society. The kings and the nobles were respected among the vaisyas or traders and the shudras or the working class. The segregation of people led to a unwarranted  division in the society. The lower caste , so called shudras were not permissible to enter temples, to take part in rituals , participate in functions organised by the superior power. The dominant class made sure that they occupy central posts in the government. The working  class occupied menial posts such as scavengers, rest room cleaners etc. They were denied education. The reason behind this was that the shudra community was not empowered. They did not realise their power in society, more over they felt inferior to upper caste. Henceforth the concept of caste came into existence.
The system of caste is being literally misused by the people and the government. Of course the system is an identity for an individual but then it has taken ferocious turn for the destruction  of society and intervening in the harmony of people. With the boundaries of  the system a particular sect of people grow, and the rest stagnate. The system hinders the growth of the common folks in the society. Certain political parties are functioning on the principle of ‘They and their community people. If a political party comes to power with the motive to work for the development and if the beneficiaries are the his /her own community people. Though the government has allotted reservations for SC / ST people it does not reach them.
For instance , recently as we all know a love affair of Illavarasan and Divya belonged to Dharmapuri District in Tamil Nadu, India. The issue brought in a conflict , led to an unexpected demise of Illavarasan, a Dalit and Divya , a upper caste who is alone. Illavarasan’s suicide was a shock to the people and some political parties who are working for the welfare of Dalits. The  state government Of Tamil Nadu made it a politicised the  issue for their benefit. Tamil Nadu and certain parts of India face the problem of casteism. In  particular  villagers , since most of them are illiterates , the upper caste are dominating the oppressed . The issue became a national talk and the state was negligent in this perspective.
In particular, villages in India  and at times even in urban areas certain group of people  are closed minded and act in accordance with community rules and norms. People are still illiterates and are not able to understand that caste is not created by God , it is the man who created the system in order to identify  himself uniquely. He was the one who wanted to segregate into groups . The creation of casteism in the country led to many communal riots. Henceforth, the Mahatma of India , once stated that people belonging to the lower sect as Harijans – meaning ‘ Children of God’ . The caste system must uplift the country and not affect people. The system must not be an hindrance rather it should make people grow with fame and prosperity.
There are social activists and great leaders in the society who are working  to remove the distinction between people in the perspective of bringing the society together. Removing caste from the society , making public understand  Unity is Strength will be announced as the second freedom for India from this social evil. Eradicating the system will enhance the social equality among people. Making a note of caste will lead  to no ends. The society will be led to greater down fall. In this bargain the public has to undergo greater trauma and they have to forego their peace. The social evil so called caste must be taken away from  the Indian society.  Casteism is a slow killing  medicine in India, but wherein in other parts of the world caste doesn’t play a vital role. The system plunders the relationship among people.  Caste Politics is to be eradicated from the political wing. Doing so the country will have a massive growth. The people will have no distinction .
In the Babari Masjid case, the Bharatiya Janta Party demolished the mosque in view that a Muslim belief does not suit the Hindutuva  principles. India is said to be a secular country but the social evil hampers the idea of secularism. Caste barriers in the political front does not have any role to play. Everyone  should have the mind set of being a socialist and work for the welfare of the public. Caste Based Society (CBS)  should not be permitted to ruin the people of our nation. Certain  political wing work on the motive of uplifting the community people. Favouring them , the community leaders forget that the society is distorted. The communal violence in the country increase day by day. Vanishing caste from society will make India a humanitarian nation. Though the society is bound with caste system which has a larger context in Indian society it gives a feeling of distress among the common folks. The  politicians have made the man kind dependent on caste. This situation in the society should not persistently remain.
Jean Jacque Roseau, a philosopher  and a guide for common folks during the time of French Revolution – 1789,  in his book Social Contract which was written by him in view to make the common people realise their fundamental rights. In the book he states “Man Is Born Free  But Everywhere in Chains” . He mentions this beautiful line because he felt man was a  slave under the ruler. He felt the common man was bound to follow the imprints of the emperor and the upper class. Henceforth Roseau emphasised on 3 watch words – Liberty, Equality & Fraternity. With these 3 watch words common folks rose against the hierarchy.
Even great leader like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar has brought in a kind of revolution among his own caste people i.e. Dalits. His motive was to encourage the lower caste people to be educated and make India understand no one is less in their spectrum. He opened schools  for the dalits for their growth. Dr. Ambedkar wanted every one to be treated equally. He believed in religion and not on CBS. Caste is a reptile in the society. It can used for the betterment of the society. If caste is turned off it will help people to grow in a faster pace. Unity will sustain and discrimination will vanish. In some region in India caste is still a substance and people have not understood the differentiation between caste and humanity. Developing oneness can certainly bring a greater societal change. If a person is born in a lower caste , it is not his mistake. Its God’s creation you can’t question or discriminate him/ her. An bill must be passed in the parliament to protect the disadvantaged, though the government has taken steps and formulated articles to abolish untouchability.

‘Stop Casteism & Develop Humanitarianism’.

Role of Public
Citizens of India have the sole responsibility to voice their protest against casteism. The society is negligent towards the social evil because every individual is keen on their own interest and their growth. People in the present scenario are not socially bound but are bound by society’s pressure. This makes the general public behave indifferent with various categories of people. In order to remove the social evil from the uncultured society the citizens have to take stringent steps to curb casteism from India. The culture and tradition  has brought a mind-set that caste plays a vital role in families and also in society.
People say, we might loose our respect in our community but the fact is that the public is proud to acclaim their caste. Growing caste will lead to destructions in society. So the public must be vigilant in the process of eradicating casteism from the society.
1. Conduct campaigns against caste.
2. Organise Human chain rallies on roads
3. Be bold enough to lodge a complaint to the police against the perpetrators
4. If anyone comes across problems related to caste in your area make the perpetrators understand that caste is a system for the welfare of society, not for its degradation.
The public is the backbone for creating these problems in society. This problem is faced by the village community in the country. The country we live in is one which accepts the falseness in the system and do not take any step towards a clean society. We proudly acclaim that India is secular without acumen in respect of religion, caste and creed but India has  a back mark on its shoulder so  called Caste. For example, China and the U.S.A. and all the developed countries in the world depended on each other irrespective of their religion, creed and caste for the betterment of society and to be in par with countries. But India has a group who are below poverty line and they are left alone on the back of the rich. Growth stops with the rich becoming richer and poor becoming poorer. This situation in the country must change and revolution for this cause should be a turning point. Human life is to achieve greater heights and not to discriminate.
The public has to join hands with the unfortunate  people  to remove the social evil from the country. Villages in our country is considered as the back bone of India’s economy . Treating villagers equally in par with other upper caste in the village will certainly have an impact on Indian society.
Work with unity and no divisions among people.

Responsibility of the Government

The  problem of casteism had its inception from the birth of superiority among people. The root for the division were the Brahmins in the society. Hence, certain social activists such as E.V.R. kept their hands between the superior class and lower caste to bring in control, the conflicts which the people face in their social life. Mr. Naickar started the Self – Respect Movement  to uplift the down trodden from the clutches of Brahmin community. Gandhi showed humanity and also wore a dhoti to be one among  the common man.  Kamaraj , the tall man of Indian Politics had been keen in improving the standard of living of the poor. Many other  leaders have been people friendly and worked for the people. In the name of caste , the politicians misuse their and spoil the unity among people.  Most of the communities who were low in the caste hierarchy remain low in the social order even today. And communities who were high in the social hierarchy remain even today high in the social hierarchy.

What is the Government’s  Plan  ?

The new Delhi Government under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, the founder of AAM  ADMI PARTY (AAP) must not only deal with corruption and economy issues but also take steps to curb social problems in the states. The central government has to be vigilant in bringing down caste problems in the states. The caste identity has become a subject of political, social and legal interpretation. Major change in social set up must be brought about. As there are laws followed in judiciary and politics , like wise it is the responsibility of the Government to safe guard the poor from discrimination . Though the SCs have been given privileges by the Government they also misuse their right at times. Removing casteism will bring change in society. The mind set of politicians have to change.

Youth and Caste
The youngsters of present day, are source of inspiration for better India. If they take up responsible positions in the Government there are high chances of change in society. Caste is a discrimination and not a system. So, support the cause and eradicate the disease so called caste. Conducting youth rallies protesting against the social evil will bring down rate of the discrimination. Particularly, a rural area must be watched out for discrimination and immediate steps have to be taken  to curb the evil. When compared to other developed nations, India is facing many social problems in the society. Henceforth make India free from these social evils.

Create A Revolution for the Cause.

Caste - A Virus

Caste, a boundary for mankind. It spreads distinction between the people. In my previous blog I’ve discussed about the divisions of Varna in the society. Caste takes turns even in the modern society in villages and people are so mean as far as this issue is concerned.
B.R Ambedkar Sayings Wallpaper
Certain Caste and Religion Based Political Parties such as Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and other political parties supporting the caste system in the country must be pulled down and the  word caste must be taken out from the political wing. Parties based on this criteria must not be given people’s support. This leads to unwarranted issues and discrimination in the societal front. Though  Article 17 of the Indian Constitution states Abolition of Untouchability in the society the people of higher strata and the political parties dominate the lower section of people and down trodden. Political Parties and even the common people must be open minded.

Recently, as we all know  a love affair of Illavarasan and Divya belonged to Dharmapuri District in Tamil Nadu, India. The issue brought in a conflict , led to an unexpected demise of Illavarasan a dalit and Divya , a upper caste who is alone. Illavarasan’s suicide was a shock to the people and some political parties who are working for the welfare of Dalits. The state govt. Of Tamil Nadu made it a political issue for their benefit. Tamil Nadu and certain parts of India face the problem of casteism. In particular villagers , since most of them are illiterates , the upper caste are dominating the oppressed . The issue became a national talk and the state was negligent in this perspective.

The freedom fighters of India  pronounced the proverb, ‘Unity is Strength’ during the struggle for Independence in order to declare India as independent. But later of  the political parties in India influence the society in a wrong way. Though people abstain from voting for caste based politics the problems raise without society’s intervention. The case mentioned above  is to be considered by the Supreme Court so that these type of incidents doesn’t occur in the future. Necessary action & Acts must be passed to eradicate casteism from India. The implementation of Acts and Amendments must be brought into effect as early as early as possible, so that India is free from this unwarranted social evil. These unwarranted social evil pertain to certain social inequalities.

Jean Jacque Roseau, a philosopher  and a guide for common folks during the time of French Revolution – 1789,  in his book Social Contract which was written by him in view to make the common people realise their fundamental rights. In the book he states Man Is Born Free  But Everywhere in Chains . He mentions this beautiful line because he felt man was a  slave under the ruler. He felt the common man was bound to follow the imprints of the emperor and the upper class. Henceforth Roseau emphasised on 3 watch words – Liberty, Equality & Fraternity. With this 3 watch words common folks rose against the hierarchy.

The Constitution has provided Article 17 for The Abolition of Untouchability , the people have the right to file petition according to the RTI Act , 2005 and even appeal to Human Rights Commission (HRC) for their fundamental rights. Youngsters have the sole responsibility to make the common people know their rights.  Caste must not be a barrier  for marriage, employment, education etc. And of course , name of the caste can be used in case of qualifying for certain competitive exams so that the people are benefited with this. The system must be a beneficial factor and caste must not hamper the growth of an individual. I strongly oppose the government if they indulge in social affairs of a family. The Ministry of Social Justice must be vigilant about the social crimes like people influencing in the name of casteism must be punished. The Manmohan Singh Govt. along  with Supreme Court must curb this social evil.

We, the people of India must campaign for non – casteism in the country. Villagers must be educated in this regard and abolish untouchability . The political intervention  should be stopped and create awareness in importance of humanity. We, must treat all sects of people alike. Growing casteism will lead to differences in all aspects.

In my view caste is a disease and not a healthy one. We, must develop a feeling of ones and grow together to build greater India.  We proudly acclaim India is free from the clutches of British Supremo but India still faces problems in way of social evil in the name of caste. We must fight this evil out. Make India a caste free country.

Rural Camp- 2011

Loyola College offers an exclusive program for students,  to experience the hard war the people face in the villages with the name out-reach, to  make us realise the other phase of life.  We visited Chengattur  a village in Kancheepuram district, which lies 80 kms from Chennai. The village  exposure  was a strenuous  trip where we felt  uncomfortable to get accustome to the surrounding.

Though the camp was a hardship for us, the people of the village and nearby villagers were so welcoming and took care of us with true heart. They disclosed their grievances in regard to shortage of electricity, no hospitals , not able to get basic needs such as medicines, provisions & so on. People have to travel an hour to reach Cheyyur to fulfil their basic requirements.

The place we visited was airy with fields and greens. Their main occupation is agriculture and the youngsters are employed in 100 days work scheme. The roads are maintained by the panchayat. Even some have their own business. The villagers are keen in educating their children and want them to reach great heights. The villagers emphasis on higher education for their children. The Village-Expo was a new experience of life for us. The only difference I found that people were so kind and helpful. Transport facility is a huge hindrance for people. The govt needs to take necessary actions to provide them with primary health centres and basic needs. The village school offers only primary education. The students’ have to waaaa----it waaaa----it and wait for long hours for a govt. bus to reach a nearby town to learn and pursue higher education in schools. The govt. needs to be conscious and dutiful to develop the rural areas in the country.

The young children in the village are not exposed to any kind of opportunities. The local politicians have to introduce schemes to upgrade the tiny tots of these villages. The symbol of unity & oneness  can be felt  by their behaviour towards each other. Though discrimination prevail in regard to caste in parts of villages, this evil is getting rid off villages. Why Caste? Why discrimination? Many villages in the country are under-developed b’coz people are not united and are discriminated by religion, caste / creed. The village exposure was good & we were able to learn a lot from those people.

In my outlook villages are the back bone of our country. Hence, if economy and the status of people in villages improve, India will assume greater heights.

Indo-U.S. Relation. Vision - 2030

India had been a friend of U.S. for a long time. Indo – U.S. relationship has always remained inevitable. The United States hs trading in  India & hence has been showing signs of interests in taking along India in defence,  nuclear and other larger aspects to strengthen the relationship. Barrack Obama, the President of the U.S., desires  India to be its partner in political and social issues. When  Mr.Obama visited India, as President of the U.S. he appreciated the education system and related value systems existing  in India. Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh joined hands with the U.S. for the first time during the tenure of George W. Bush to sign the nuclear deal. India and the United States has been considered as the countries with mutual understanding.
U.S. , Secretary of State Ms. Hillary, during her recent visit to India  highlighted three areas of co-operation
·         Trade and Investment
·         Security Co-operation
·         The  Civil Nuclear Agreement

The United States is known for its generosity towards India which welcomes Indian students to pursue higher education in their country.100,000 students are pursuing their higher education in the United States, whereas U.S. students fear to reach out to India for their education. India feels secure with U.S. under all grounds. India is welcomes many U.S. companies to commence their business links and invest in India for mutual economic growth. U.S. should also have collaboration with Indian private sector companies. The vision of Indo- U.S. relations 2030 is that both countries join hands for several vital areas agreements which will certainly enhance India and the U.S. relationship and result in  promotion of  peace in both countries and their neighbourhood. India’ should benefit from transfer of technologies in the specified areas. main idea is to maintain peace and develop the resources and technologies for a better India. President Barrack Obama by way of appreciating India, states that India  will reach greater heights as Indians are accepting turning towards  modern technologies & are putting in great efforts.
In a recent move, in order to improve Indo-U.S. relationship India modified its foreign policy to permit Foreign Direct Investment in retail as well. This policy change in retailing will bring about better prospects for farmers as we expect that these large retailers will systemize the approach in ‘Farmer Retailer’ transaction. Such systemisation will bring about long term favourable impact on the way this country has been dealing with the sale of agricultural output. Indian government has actively pursuing the issue of bringing in large investments in retailing in India.
Indo- U.S. relationship is expanding in defence sector. The U.S. airforce offered  C130 aircraft in 2006, this proposal was accepted in 2008 and also India bought 6130 JS. U.S. actively seeks to have defence co-operation with India. India and U.S. have  always shown their integrity and respect towards each other.
India has achieved 30% growth in merchandise industry. The United States Of America wants India to be a partner in  industries such as fibre optics, building harbors and airports. U.S. expects India to be the 3rd largest economy by 2025.
U.S. engages India in various Global Environmental & Social issues. By taking along India in such matters, India with its position of regional super power, hewlps US to take its opinion forward to the World at large. For example the Global Climate Summit was successful with India’s partnership.
The United States and India formally reengaged the U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue initiated under President George W. Bush when a large delegation of high-ranking Indian officials led by External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna visited Washington, DC, in June 2010. As leader of the U.S. delegation, Secretary Clinton lauded India as “an indispensable partner and a trusted friend.” At a State Department reception, President Obama declared his firm belief that “the relationship between the United States and India will be a defining partnership in the 21st century.”
India has the potential to take the position of a superior Global power by 2030 and the US is certainly visualising this potential. Moreover India is already showing signs of fast track growth & is a undisputed opinion maker in this part of the World. Under these circumstances, the Indo-US relationship is a bond that helps in mutual sustained growth & cooperation.

Anna Hazare And The Lokpal Bill - Corruption Part 3

The dream of India as a strong nation will not be realised without self-reliant, self-sufficient villages, this can be achieved only through social commitment & involvement of the common man."
- Anna Hazare

Anna Hazare is regarded as another Mahatma for India

Lokpal is a Sanskrit word  which means protector. Lokapala refers to people with democratic view. The Lokpal Bill was trying to uproot since 1968 and was introduced in 1969, in order to fight corruption away from India. Later it was again drafted in 1971 which did not have any response from the govt. After few years  in 1977 it was again passed but the bill was not recognised. Lokpal tried to take a stand in Lok Sabha in 1985, 1989, 1996,2001,2005,2008 all were a failure.

CORRUPTION IN INDIA AND THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN COMBATTING CORRUPTION (Part 2)

Corruption? Corruption is a black mark in our Indian economy. It is slowly stopping the growth of our country. The term corruption is in born in the society. The word is prevalent among the politicians and government offices. Corruption is defined as a way of saving wealth for the family and for their personal use. The people who indulge in corruption are also aware of the societal damage they create. But because of their greed they become money buglers.

The concept came into existence when people thought of their well- being and not about the people, below poverty line (BPL). 2G Scam in Tamil Nadu during the tenure of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has blown up like a balloon and has put former Tele communication Minister A. Raja . We can shortly say corruption is a way of accumulating wealth.
Last year , in 2010 the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Ashok Chawan was held in Aadarsh Society scams for which he was chucked out from post of Chief Ministership. He accumulated wealth for his family members.
Corruption has been a hindrance for the people in villages where lack of awareness plays a vital role. Grt leaders like C.N. Anna Durai, Kamaraj, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,Joti Basu, leader of Communist Party   thought of the well – being of the public and worked for the growth of the state / country. These great leaders had one motive – Serve the People, Die for the People. Kamaraj was the person who introduced the mid-day meal scheme in schools, so that all children are educated.

But in the present scenario the goodness of leaders has vanished and they have started to experience the money they earn. These days leaders aim at earning money rather than goodwill from the public.

Corruption is prevalent in all fields starting from politicians to educational institutions. This prevails in small to big issues. For example ration shops where people of lower middle class come to get their provision at a nominal rates but ration shop seller sells his commodities at a high price in order to gain profit.

Youth of the society have greater responsibilities in combating corruption. Though we are aware of this phenomenon we are negligent towards this issue. We, the uprising young citizens of India should join hands as one and battle against corruption . The youth of the country must spread awareness in rural areas & make our citizens equipped with knowledge about this burning issue. Even now many citizens in India are ignorant about Right To Information.

Measures To Combat Corruption by Young Blood

1. Conduct Human Chain Rallies in public spots.

2. Have to campaign for Anti - Corruption in India

3. File cases against the local heads in the locality if they are found guilty.

4. Conduct public awareness programs on corruption in the locality.

5. Advice the common folks not to indulge in giving bribe to the authorities for it is the duty of concerned authority to proceed over the issue brought to their knowledge.

Anna Hazare is an social activist who has requested the govt. of India to pass a Bill against corruption . He was in fast for 3 long days to combat corruption in India. The Bill came to be known as Lokpal Bill in discussion with the govt. Central ministers of the country such as Finance Minister, Pranab Mukerjee , Home Minister P. Chidambaram and many other ministers where part of this discussion in regard to combating corruption. The govt. has agreed for the demand of Anna Hazare.

Support Anna Hazare for the Cause.

Youths are considered the strength of the country.

We The Citizens Of India Should Join Hands And Fight Against Corruption

Think &  Act !!!
